PPS "Novel methods and technological developments in Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus"
The School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, designed and offers the Postgraduate Study Program titled: “Novel methods and technological developments in Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus” since 2019. The subject of the Program is the training of all Health Scientists in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications based on all the latest data in all areas. Special emphasis is given to modern pharmacotherapy and modern technology. The purpose of the Program is to cultivate and promote knowledge, application and research in the scientific field of Diabetes Mellitus and to provide postgraduate students with specialized knowledge in order to obtain the necessary supplies for professional and / or for their academic career. In the Postgraduate Study Program, distinguished scientists from abroad and from Greece participate and develop the topics. Study duration: two semesters of compulsory courses, one semester of internship and one semester of Postgraduate Thesis. Selection Procedure: Application submission & Interview Lessons start: October.

In order to obtain their qualification from the Postgraduate Study Programme (P.P.S.), postgraduate students have to attend and successfully be examined to 7 compulsory courses, distributed in the two semesters of study, to attend successfully and complete their intership and to design and accomplish their Postgraduate Thesis. The total number of ECTS is 120 (30 for each of the two semesters, 30 for intership and 30 for Postgraduate Thesis).
The attendance of courses by postgraduate students is obligatory.

The purpose of the Postgraduate Study program is to cultivate and promote knowledge, application and research in the scientific field of Diabetes Mellitus and to provide postgraduate students with specialized knowledge in order to obtain the necessary supplies for professional and / or for their academic career.
The guidelines of the P.P.S. are, on the one hand, the provision of postgraduate students with stable scientific foundations, modern knowledge and appropriate research methods and principles, which will enable them to continue their education and improve their creative skills and the other, on the other hand, to cultivate skills required for a responsible scientific, professional and research activity.
It is the responsibility of all P.P.S. operators to ensure the quality and continuous improvement of every aspect of the program, the educational and research process, as well as to promote collaborations with related programs and Centers in Greece and abroad.

The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies.
Examination regulations, assessment and grading
A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme for the qualification of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study Program follows the following distribution : (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/Β1/425 art.60, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1099/2000/B):

Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good : 6.50 - 8.49
Καλώς (Kalos) Good : 6.00 - 6.49
Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail : 0,00 - 5,99
Minimum passing grade : 6 (AUTH Rule of Procedure Α.Π.Θ., no 127/2-2-11).
Graduation requirements
4 SEMESTERS, 120 ECTS
A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1ECTS= 25-30). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B).
