PPS "Public Health and Health Policy"
Το ΠΜΣ του Τμήματος Ιατρικής «Δημόσια Υγεία και Πολιτική Υγείας» («Public Health and Health Policy») έχει αντικείμενο την παροχή εξειδικευμένων γνώσεων και τη διεύρυνση της ερευνητικής δραστηριότητας στα αντικείμενα της Δημόσιας Υγείας και Πολιτικής Υγείας. Με στόχο την ανάλυση των παραγόντων που καθορίζουν το επίπεδο υγείας του πληθυσμού, παρέχονται γνώσεις στα αντικείμενα της επιδημιολογίας, βιοστατιστικής και προληπτικής στρατηγικής. Παράλληλα με την εμβάθυνση στην Πολιτική Υγείας αναπτύσσονται τα αντικείμενα της Πολιτικής Οικονομίας της Υγείας, της κοινωνιολογικής προσέγγισης της Υγείας και του σχεδιασμού των Υπηρεσιών Υγείας.
Το ΠΜΣ έχει δύο ειδικεύσεις:
• Δημόσια Υγεία (Public Health) και
• Πολιτική Υγείας (Health Policy)
Διάρκεια: 4 ακαδημαϊκά εξάμηνα (120 ECTS)
Το ΠΜΣ είναι χωρίς δίδακτρα.

PTYCHIO (Degree from a University in Greece or from a recognized foreign institution of equivalent status or from a Technological Education Institute).
Qualification requirements and regulations, profile of the programme, key learning outcomes and occupational profiles
For the award of the MSc Degree in Public Health and Health Policy (according to the law FEK2081/7-6-2018) postgraduate students are obliged to complete successfully the modules of the four semesters corresponding to 120 ECTS (Υ.Α. 67145/Β7, ΦΕΚ 1889/2007/B7).
Postgraduate students obliged to attend and successfully complete the assessments of 9 modules (Basic, General Knowledge, Scientific area, Skills development), that are distributed as following: a) in the first semester (30 ECTS) 3 modules, b) in the second semester (30 ECTS) 3 modules, και c) in the third semester (30 ECTS), 3 modules. During the fourth semester the students are asked to complete their Postgraduate Dissertation which they are publicly support during the final assessment procedure.
The Aim of the MSc Programme in Public Health and Health Policy is the delivery of specialised knowledge and the promotion of research activity in the scientific fields of Public Health and Health Policy based on an inter disciplinary and holistic approach of health on a population level. The scientific area of the MSc covers all issues related to the health and healthcare needs assessment of the population and the policy responses to these needs
The specific subjects of the MSc include health care services research, health care systems, epidemiology and biostatistics, health promotion and disease prevention, political economy of health and sociology of health. Training is developed in two streams: A) Public Health and B) Health Policy. The postgraduate students besides the factual knowledge are expected to develop skills: 1) to apply knowledge in practice, 2) to search, analyse and synthesise data and informations, by using the appropriate methods, 3) to work independently or in a team within an interdisciplinary setting, 4) to adapt in new situations and make decisions, 5) to understand information in a second language, 6)to develop new ideas and scientific knowledge, 7) to show responsibility, 8) to develop critical skills and 9) to enhance free, productive and inductive way of thinking.

Access to further studies
The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies.
Examination regulations, assessment and grading
A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme for the qualification of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study Program follows the following distribution : (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/Β1/425 art.60, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1099/2000/B):

Minimum passing grade : 6 (AUTH Rule of Procedure Α.Π.Θ., no 127/2-2-11).
Graduation requirements
4 SEMESTERS, 120 ECTS
A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1ECTS= 25-30). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B).
