Panagiotis Ioannidis graduated from Medical School at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.)  in 1992, obtained his residency in Neurology in 2001 and his specialization in dementia at the Dementia research group, National Hospital for Neurology, University College London in 2002. He received his PhD from A.U.TH. in 2006. ​He is currently an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Medical School of A.U.TH. B’ Dept of Neurology, AHEPA University Hospital. responsible for the Outpatient Dementia and relevant disorders clinic. He is also a member of the Thessaloniki Medical Association since 1993, of the American Academy of Neurology since 2000, of the British Medical Association since 2001 and a founder member of Hellenic Academy of Neuroimmunology.​
