Anthony H. Aletras studied Electrical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. As a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Fellow, he received his Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University. An Intramural Research Training Award by the Heart, Lung and Blood Institute enabled post-doctoral studies in the Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA, where he subsequently held Staff Fellow and Staff Scientist positions until 2010. In 2010 he received a Marie Curie Fellowship and was appointed Chairman and Professor of Biomedicine and Imaging Technologies at the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Thessaly, Greece. Since December 2014 Dr. Aletras serves as Professor of Biomedicine and Imaging Technologies at the Laboratory of Computing, Medical Informatics and Biomedical Imaging Technologies of the School of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He also serves as a Researcher at the Department of Clinical Physiology of the Medical Faculty at Lund University, Sweden. His published work is on cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging both for pathophysiological interrogations and diagnostic imaging.
