Parmenion Tsitsopoulos graduated from Aristotle University School of Medicine, in Thessaloniki, Greece and completed his residency in Neurosurgery at Thriassion General Hospital of Elefsina, Hippokratio General Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece and Uppsala University Hospital, Uppsala, Sweden. He defended his doctorate thesis at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2005. From 2009-2011 he was trained in spine biomechanics and spine surgery at Loyola University, Chicago, IL, United States. In 2012, he was appointed Lecturer, in 2015 Assistant Professor, in 2019 Associate Professor and in 2023 Full Professor in Neurosurgery at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece. During 2016-2019 he was appointed visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosciences, at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. He has also worked as a consultant neurosurgeon at Uppsala University Hospital, Uppsala, Sweden.
