Invitation to the Launch of the Institute of Infection at Imperial College (4th October)
As a member of the Imperial Global Science Policy Forum network and on behalf of our Co-Directors, Professors Charles Bangham and Jake Baum, I would like to invite you to the official, online launch of Imperial College London's new Institute of Infection, which will take place on the 4th October.
Briefly, the Institute of Infection’s mission is to transform the understanding and control of infection through interdisciplinary science. Bringing together clinical, medical, engineering, natural science and economic researchers from across Imperial, we will turn fundamental discoveries into interventions that will save and improve lives globally.
Our main launch programme on Monday, October 4th (3:30pm-5:30pm; online) will include:
- Welcome from Professor Alice Gast, President of Imperial College
- Keynote address from Ms Julia Gillard, Chair of the Wellcome Trust
- Overview of the Institute from Professors Charles Bangham and Jake Baum (co-Directors)
- Panel discussion with key members of the Imperial infection research community
The programme will continue the following day (Tuesday, 5th October), with a symposium covering the breadth of infection research at Imperial; you are also most welcome to attend this (or portions of it) as well.
We welcome you to register to attend on Eventbrite, where tickets will be available for single days (main launch only, symposium only) or both days.
If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We do hope you might be able to join us.
With best wishes,
