Το ΠΜΣ του Τμήματος Ιατρικής «Πρωτοβάθμια Φροντίδα Υγείας» («Primary Health Care») έχει σκοπό την παροχή εξειδικευμένων γνώσεων και τη διεύρυνση της ερευνητικής δραστηριότητας στα αντικείμενα της Πρωτοβάθμιας Φροντίδας Υγείας. Το αντικείμενο του είναι η διεπιστημονική και ολιστική προσέγγιση της υγείας σε επίπεδο κοινότητας, με επίκεντρο την προάσπιση της υγείας και την πρόληψη της νόσου
Διάρκεια: 4 ακαδημαϊκά εξάμηνα (120 ECTS)
Το ΠΜΣ είναι χωρίς δίδακτρα.

PTYCHIO (Degree from a University in Greece or from a recognized foreign institution of equivalent status or from a Technological Education Institute).
Qualification requirements and regulations, profile of the programme, key learning outcomes and occupational profiles
For the award of the MSc Degree in Primary Health Care postgraduate students are obliged to complete successfully the modules of the four semesters corresponding to 120 ECTS ( Υ.Α. 67145/ Β7, ΦΕΚ 1889/2007/B7).
Postgraduate students are obliged to attend and successfully complete the assessments of 9 modules (Basic, General Knowledge, Scientific area, Skills development), that are distributed as following: a) in the first semester (30 ECTS) 3 modules, b) in the second semester (30 ECTS) 3 modules, και c) in the third semester (30 ECTS), 3 modules. During the fourth semester the students are asked to complete their Postgraduate Dissertation (30 ECTS) which they are publicly supporting during the final assessment procedure.
The Aim of the MSc Programme in Primary Health Care is the delivery of specialised knowledge and the promotion of research activity in the scientific fields of Primary Health Care based on an inter disciplinary and holistic approach of health on a population level. The scientific area of the MSc covers all issues related to the health and healthcare needs assessment of the population and the policy responses to these needs
The specific subjects of the MSc include the analysis of the factors that determine the level of health of the population and the provision of specialized knowledge in the subjects of epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion and prevention strategy. The ability of graduates to record, analyze and monitor the level of health of the population and the corresponding health care needs, to plan and evaluate Primary Health Care services focusing on the valid and timely response to the health care needs of the population, to plan and develop health promotion and preventive medicine. The promotion of interdisciplinary research on the cultivation of critical thinking and the elaboration of a high level of relevant postgraduate theses.
The postgraduate students besides the factual knowledge are expected to develop skills: 1) to apply knowledge in practice, 2) to search, analyse and synthesise data and informations, by using the appropriate methods, 3) to work independently or in a team within an interdisciplinary setting, 4) to adapt in new situations and make decisions, 5) to understand information in a second language, 6)to develop new ideas and scientific knowledge, 7) to show responsibility, 8) to develop critical skills and 9) to enhance free, productive and inductive way of thinking.

Access to further studies
The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies.
Examination regulations, assessment and grading
A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme for the qualification of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study Program follows the following distribution : (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/Β1/425 art.60, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1099/2000/B):

Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good : 6.50 - 8.49

Minimum passing grade : 6 (AUTH Rule of Procedure Α.Π.Θ., no 127/2-2-11).
Graduation requirements
4 SEMESTERS, 120 ECTS
A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1ECTS= 25-30). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B).
