| Abstract | Beta-thalassaemia is a genetic disease with different clinical aspects, which can lead to heart failure with a multifactorial mechanism. Over the last years, growing interest has been reported for biomarkers that may help in the diagnosis, staging and prognosis of heart disease at an early stage, in patients with beta-thalassaemia. This review will highlight the current clinical value of cardiac biomarkers in patients with beta-thalassaemia and the ongoing research for a possible expanded future use. |
