IPPS "Sports and Health"

Main aim of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program of Studies “Sports and Health” (School of Medicine & School of Physical Education and Sport Science of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) is the study and research of the application and adjustment of physical exercise on human performance. The program has two streams: • Sports medicine • Physical Exercise and Health Some of the subjects of study of the MSc program are: the prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of sports injuries, cardio-respiratory and pathological diseases, maximizing athletic performance, therapeutic gymnastics and managing musculoskeletal pain through exercise programs.

IPPS "Biomedical Engineering"

The MSc in BioMedical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (BME-AUTh) aims to maintain a high standard of education and training, so as graduates of BME-AUTh can pursue a variety of careers in research, industry, consulting, government, and more. Students oriented to research are offered by BME-AUTh the MSc by research, involving extended research thesis, can continue smoothly to PhD programmes.

IPPS "Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine"

The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine" has been operating since the spring semester of 2020 and offers theoretical and practical training in the field of stem cells research and applications in various medical specialties. The topics cover the origin and biology of stem cells, the combination with biomaterials and scaffolds, isolation and cryopreservation, quality control methods, their role in transplantations and in improving the viability and quality of grafts and finally the applications in various medical specialties.

PPS “Health and Social Care Services Management”

The Postgraduate Program of Studies (PPS or equivalently: MSc) titled "Health and Social Care Services Management" is organized by the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Department of Social Work of the Democritus University of Thrace. The scope of this MSc is to train students in the disciplines of administration and management of health and social services by basing its education on modern principles of Management. The aim of this MSc is to cultivate and disseminate knowledge and research in the aforementioned fields as well as to provide its students with specialized knowledge which is needed for a successful career. The studies last two semesters (75 ECTS) and during the summer period of the second semester the students undertake and complete their master’s thesis.

IPPS "Application of Endoscopic Surgical Techniques in Gynecology"

The English-language IPPS "Application of Endoscopic Surgical Techniques in Gynecology " of the Department of Medicine, School of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aspires to offer students up-to-date knowledge on minimally invasive surgery and its application in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological diseases. The duration of the DPMS is 2 academic semesters and seventy-five (75) ECTS are required for its completion and Diploma acquisition.

IPPS "Precision Medicine - Translational Research and Therapeutics"

The School of Medicine and the Department of Pharmacy of the Faculty of Health Sciences of AUTh, organize and operate from the winter semester of the academic year 2020-2021 the Interdepartmental Program of Postgraduate Studies (IPPS) entitled "Precision Medicine - Translational Research and Therapeutics". The post graduate program aims to educate and familiarize health professionals with the principles of modern medical practice and precision medicine, through the understanding and utilization of molecular and genomic information involved in the differential pharmacological responses in individuals. Furthermore, the program aims to link basic clinical and translational research aspects with the health care services, the process of developing innovative products in the medical field in relation to molecular diagnosis and the development of pharmaceutical products.

IPPS "History of Medicine"

Διιδρυματικό με τη συμμετοχή του Τμήματος Ιστορίας και Εθνολογίας της Σχολής Κλασικών και Ανθρωπιστικών Σπουδών του Δημοκρίτειου Πανεπιστημίου Θράκης. Σκοπός του ΔΠΜΣ είναι η μελέτη της εξέλιξης της ιατρικής και της ένταξής της σε ευρύτερο κοινωνικό και πολιτισμικό πλαίσιο. Αποκαλύπτονται οι καθοριστικοί παράγοντες της υγείας και της νόσου μέσω έρευνας σε κοινωνικό και επιστημονικό επίπεδο, τόσο σε επιδημικές όσο και σε χρόνιες νόσους. Διασαφηνίζεται πώς η μελέτη της ιστορίας μπορεί να βοηθήσει στην εκλεπτυσμένη κατανόηση ευρέως φάσματος ερωτημάτων και διλημμάτων της σύγχρονης ιατρικής. Η εκπαίδευση αφορά σε δύο βασικές κατευθύνσεις: Ιστορία της Ιατρικής και Βιολογική Ανθρωπολογία.

IPPS "Critical thinking and soft skills in Biomedical Sciences"

The Interuniversity Program of Postgraduate Studies (IPPS or equivalently: MSc) titled "Critical thinking and soft skills in Biomedical Sciences" is organized by the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Department of Primary Education of the University of West Macedonia. The aim of this MSc is the introduction and professional development of Biomedical Scientists in the areas of personality and communication in their workplace as well as the cultivation of high mental functions, development of valuable, emotional and interpersonal skills, application of knowledge in specialized fields, etc., so that they can respond more adequately to the demands of their profession, and current affairs and challenges.

IPPS "Neuroimmunology"

The program offers * a set of courses on Basic Neurosciences and Immunology, Neuroimmunology and Clinical Neurology. * training in clinical neuroimmunology and basic science research skills. It can be modeled according to the applicant’s active interests and skill set.

IPPS "Neuroscience and Neurodegeneration"

The design of the program arose due to the particularly increased occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases in modern times and the emerging need for further research and professional training of health professionals. Its purpose is to promote knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases, as well as to promote research into their study and treatment. Through the interdisciplinary nature of the proposed program, a coordinated approach is attempted by all health professionals, with the aim of forming a single treatment plan to deal with the chronic nature of neurodegenerative diseases.

IPPS "Contemporary Medical Acts: Legal Regulation and Bioethical Dimension"

The studies of the Interdepartmental Program of Postgraduate Studies (IPPS or equivalently: MSc) "Contemporary Medical Acts: Legal Regulation and Bioethical Dimension" last 4 semesters. The aim of this MSc is the study and research of medical, ethical, social and law issues which stem from the medical and biomedical research and practice. Upon the successful completion of the master’s thesis at the end of the fourth semester the students obtain an MSc in “Contemporary Medical Acts: Legal Regulation and Bioethical Dimension" (Total ECTS: 120).

IPPS "Health and Environmental Factors"

The Interuniversity Program of Postgraduate Studies (IPPS or equivalently: MSc) titled "Health and Environmental Factors" is organized by the department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in collaboration with the Department of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace, the Department of Civil Engineering of the International Hellenic University and the Department of Geology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The aim of this MSc is the study of the impact of environmental factors on diseases, which is the cornerstone in the understanding and clarification of their etiology and pathophysiology. The courses are taught in the first and second semester (60 ECTS) and the students undertake and complete a master’s thesis during the third semester (30 ECTS).

PPS "Human Reproduction"

This unique MSc aims to extend the knowledge of the students on the subject of Human Reproduction. Its graduates will be able to work in positions of public and private sector, which require specialized knowledge on the subject of medically assisted reproduction. It is acknowledged that this scientific subject is a necessity for a modern medical curriculum vitae. In addition, the possession of this MSc degree constitutes a requirement for further post- graduate studies or for the engagement in medical research.

PPS "Dermatoscopy"

The School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki operates from the academic year 2021−2022 the Postgraduate Program of Studies (PPS) "Dermatoscopy". The Program has a duration of three (3) semesters. The courses of the study program are compulsory and are taught in the 1st and 2nd semesters of studies, while the 3rd semester includes the preparation of the master thesis. The object of the program is to provide training and up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Dermatoscopy. In particular, the Program offers trainees the opportunity to recognize dermatoscopic structures and patterns, to correctly assess their significance and to use dermatoscopy beneficially in clinical practice. The Program accepts as post-graduate students, graduates of Schools of Medicine of the country and of recognized equivalent Institutions abroad. In particular, the program is aimed at Dermatology specialists and doctors, as well as doctors awaiting the Dermatology-Venoresiology specialty.

PPS "Public Health and Health Policy"

Το ΠΜΣ του Τμήματος Ιατρικής «Δημόσια Υγεία και Πολιτική Υγείας» («Public Health and Health Policy») έχει αντικείμενο την παροχή εξειδικευμένων γνώσεων και τη διεύρυνση της ερευνητικής δραστηριότητας στα αντικείμενα της Δημόσιας Υγείας και Πολιτικής Υγείας. Με στόχο την ανάλυση των παραγόντων που καθορίζουν το επίπεδο υγείας του πληθυσμού, παρέχονται γνώσεις στα αντικείμενα της επιδημιολογίας, βιοστατιστικής και προληπτικής στρατηγικής. Παράλληλα με την εμβάθυνση στην Πολιτική Υγείας αναπτύσσονται τα αντικείμενα της Πολιτικής Οικονομίας της Υγείας, της κοινωνιολογικής προσέγγισης της Υγείας και του σχεδιασμού των Υπηρεσιών Υγείας. Το ΠΜΣ έχει δύο ειδικεύσεις: • Δημόσια Υγεία (Public Health) και • Πολιτική Υγείας (Health Policy) Διάρκεια: 4 ακαδημαϊκά εξάμηνα (120 ECTS) Το ΠΜΣ είναι χωρίς δίδακτρα.

PPS "Auditory Processing Disorder"

The new Master programme offered by the School of Medicine (Faculty of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) titled ‘Auditory Processing Disorder’ aims at covering the existent educational gap related to the diagnosis and treatment of auditory perception problems, which are independent of auditory sensitivity (audiogram). The first is for non-doctors and offers participants both theoretical and practical knowledge through the use of individualized auditory training to people diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD). The second is for doctors and aims at providing them with the most current knowledge in APD research and enable them to be actively involved in the diagnosis of the disorder through the use of tools standardized for the Greek population. The programme is mainly provided by a small group of educators, equipped with all the latest knowledge concerning the interaction between auditory perception and cognitive functions (memory, attention) and by distinguished professors from abroad. PPS “Maternal Fetal Medicine”

The subject of the Program of Postgraduate Studies "Maternal Fetal Medicine» of the School of Medicine of AUTH is the study, research and provision of postgraduate education to health professionals related to the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in the field of Fetal Medicine. The philosophy of the MPS is to provide postgraduate students with modern knowledge, methods and principles that will enable them to continue their education, as well as to cultivate in them the criticism and creative skills required by a socially and ethically responsible professional activity. The purpose of the postgraduate program is to provide a high scientific level of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Fetal Medicine. Fetal Medicine is an evolving scientific field of medical science that deals with the recognition of predisposing factors, symptoms and complications of pathological conditions during pregnancy, as well as the prevention and treatment of problems that could affect the health of the fetus and the mother’s. Completion of the proposed postgraduate program is not equivalent to obtaining the sub-specialty of Fetal Medicine. The goal of all the factors of operation of the MPS is to ensure the quality and continuous improvement of the curriculum, the educational process and research, and to promote cooperation with related study programs and Centers at home and abroad.

PPS "Critical Care Nursing"

The School of Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences organizes and operates a Master's Program entitled: "Critical Care Nursing" in accordance with the provisions of Law 4957/2022. Object of the Master is to ensure the scientific proficiency of students, the specialization and cultivation of a high level of skills and knowledge in the subject of Intensive Medicine, the promotion of academic research, as well as the emergence of new scientific knowledge.

PPS "Research Methodology in Medicine and in Health Sciences"

The main objective of the Postgraduate Program “Research Methodology in Medicine and in the Health Sciences” is to train students in a wide range of basic and applied research methods in the field of health and medicine. This is a two year full time program (120 ECTS). The training program is divided into two streams: Basic Medical Research and Clinical Medical Research. Without Fees.

PPS "Psychological Applications in Health"

Objective of the PPS program is the study, research and the provision of postgraduate education to all the psychological factors that are proven to be involved in health, illness, but also healthcare. The purpose of the PPS is to cultivate and promote scientific knowledge in the field of dealing with psychological factors that are proven to be involved in health, the development of relevant scientific research, and the provision of appropriate postgraduate training to meet the needs for scientific staff at the postgraduate level of education.

PPS "Applied Nutrition and Health Promotion"

The Postgraduate Studies in "Applied Nutrition and Health Promotion" offer a two-arm specialization in either Clinical Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition and has a duration of 3 semesters. The PG program offers an in-depth theoretical training of its students and aims to their active and multifaceted participation in the field of Nutrition. Moreover, practical applications in research and clinical practice are being offered, together with a focus on how to best conduct research and be engaged in scientific writing. Overall, in addition to high quality scientific knowledge offered during the duration of the PG program, postgraduate students acquire the ability: • to apply acquired knowledge to everyday practice, • to systematically search, analyze and synthesize data using appropriate methodology and technology, • to be competent to work both individually, as well as in teams within a multidisciplinary scientific environment, • to adjust to new situations and take decisions, • to comprehend complex information in the field of medical/clinical nutrition and nutritional epidemiology and public health, • to produce novel ideas and add to the scientific knowledge, • to show responsibility and meet deadlines, • to develop a critical thinking and to promote a free, productive and inductive thought.

PPS "Adolescent Medicine and Adolescent Health Care"

The School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki offers the Greek-language Postgraduate Studies Program entitled "Adolescent Medicine and Adolescent Health Care", a comprehensive educational program focused on adolescent health. The Postgraduate Program was established on February 2020. The duration of the studies is 3 academic semesters (90 ECTS in total). The admission of students and the start of the Postgraduate Program take place every February (spring semester). The Postgraduate Program is based on the World Health Organization's guideline to prioritize and emphasize health promotion during adolescence, with the aim of limiting morbidity rates in young adulthood. The purpose of the Program is triple and consists of understanding and addressing the multifaceted physical, mental, cognitive and developmental problems of adolescents, promoting knowledge and research in the field of Adolescent Medicine and Adolescent Health Care and developing strategies for planning, organization, creation and operation of health service structures suitable for teenagers. The object of the Program is the interdisciplinary, post-graduate education, the promotion of knowledge and the development of research in the field of Adolescent Medicine and Adolescent Health Care. The postgraduate Program focuses on the understanding of the peculiarities of adolescence, the promotion of the holistic way of approaching adolescents, the framing, organizing, operating, evaluating and coordinating adolescent-friendly health services and finally the active participation of the trainees in scientific research on adolescents’ health issues.

PPS "The interaction of the immune system and kidney disease: Translational and clinical approach"

The PPS "The interaction of the immune system and kidney disease: Translational and clinical approach" is a pioneering postgraduate program, of novel clinical and research topics in Nephrology, Immunology, Biochemistry, to understand the interaction of kidney function and the immune system. Purpose of the PMS is to train Clinicians, Pharmacists, Biologists, Biochemists, Chemists and Nurses in Clinical Nephrology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Kidney Transplantation, familiarize them with basic and advanced laboratory and bioinformatics methods , biostatistics, artificial intelligence applications. Duration of studies is 3 semesters: 2 teaching semesters (60 ECTS), 1 semester for the diploma (30 ECTS).

PPS "Treatment Options and Management of Vascular Surgery Emergencies"

The School of Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki organizes and operates from the academic year 2020 – 21 the Postgraduate Studies Program "Treatment Options and Management of Vascular Surgery Emergencies". The studies in the Program last one full academic year and are structured in two semesters, the winter and the spring in which (4) four compulsory theoretical courses and (1) one practical clinical exercise are taught in each semester, and in the summer period in which is elaborated the Diploma Thesis, which is presented at the end of the academic year. Successful completion of the Program leads to acquirement of the Master's Degree, which corresponds to 75 ECTS.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Department of Medicine is offering since 2015 a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Research Methodology delivered in English. PPS "Forensic Medicine - Forensic Psychiatry"

Το Τμήμα Ιατρικής της Σχολής Επιστημών Υγείας του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης (Α.Π.Θ.) οργανώνει και λειτουργεί το Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (Π.Μ.Σ.) με τίτλο: «Ιατροδικαστική-Ψυχιατροδικαστική». Σκοπός του προγράμματος είναι η εκπαίδευση των μεταπτυχιακών φοιτητών στις σύγχρονες επιστημονικές εξελίξεις αναφορικά με την Ιατροδικαστική, Ψυχιατροδικαστική. PPS "Cardiorenal Metabolic Diseases: the link of Evidence-Based Medicine with Precision Medicine"

The Program : Cardiorenal Metabolic Diseases: the link of Evidence-Based Medicine with Precision Medicine aims to highlight the importance of a holistic approach and combined treatment of patients with co-existing - more than one - cardiorenal metabolic diseases. Moreover, it aims to train the participants in understanding the pathophysiological relationships between the metabolic , renal and cardiovascular diseases and, in developing the ability to combine the newest guidelines for the treatment and prevention of these comorbidities and to apply personalized treatment and prevention strategies, taking into account the diversity of each person in terms of genes, environment and his way of life. The interconnectedness of cardiorenometabolic diseases has so far been expressed by the integration of non-pharmacological interventions of diet and exercise into patient care. Recently, this connection has also begun to be expressed by pharmacological factors, as the newest classes of antidiabetic drugs (GLP-1RA and SGLT-2i) show cardioprotective and/or nephroprotective properties, to such an extent that they are being tested in non-diabetic populations. More and more scientists argue that the time is the most suitable for the official mixing/interconnection of diabetes mellitus with cardiovascular and renal health. In addition, recent developments in omic technologies and the increasing availability of health data obtained through molecular controls, imaging methods and biochemical markers, have provided new opportunities for the design and implementation of new therapies based on the principles of precision medicine.

PPS "Clinical and Industrial Pharmacology - Clinical Toxicology"

Laboratories of Clinical Pharmacology and Forensic Toxicology, of the Department of Medical School, of Faculty of Health Sciences of AUTH, designed and offer a innovative, interdisciplinary and technocratic Postgraduate Study Program of high level and requirements entitled: «Clinical & Industrial Pharmacology - Clinical Toxicology». The Msc in «Clinical and Industrial Pharmacology – Clinical Toxicology» awards a Postgraduate Diploma with the title «Clinical and Industrial Pharmacology - Clinical Toxicology», in the following specializations: 1. Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Medicine 2. Industrial Pharmacology 3. PPS "Clinical and Surgical Anatomy (Applied Anatomy)"

The aim of the Post Graduate Studies (PGS) is to provide subspecialty knowledge to physicians in Clinical and Surgical Anatomy and an approach from a methodological and research point of view of the Clinical and Surgical Anatomy. The PGS courses cover the educational gap in between the undergraduate studies and the completion of the medical specialty, either medical or surgical, where studies of participating physicians on embalmed and fresh cadavers is regarded as a necessity.

PPS "Clinical Mental Health"

The aim of the MSc "Clinical Mental Health" is the scientific specialization on the broad subject of Clinical Mental Health. The education upon this field refers to the promotion of mental health, the treatment of mental disorder and the determinants of health and disease within an extensive social and cultural context. The curriculum of this master program includes intensive, comprehensive and in-depth theoretical training in conjunction with applied scientific research. The MSc “Clinical Mental Health” intends on providing its students with a complete knowledge concerning the clinical education, the multidimensional therapeutic approach and the overall promotion of mental health.

PPS "Social - Preventive Medicine and Quality in Healthcare"

The School of Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences of AUTh, organizes and operates the Postgraduate Program of Studies (PPS - equivalent to MSc) in "Social- Preventive Medicine and Quality in Health Care”. The MSc aims to provide its students with a high scientific level, necessary to demonstrate the ability to contribute to the theoretical and applied fields of Social - Preventive Medicine and Quality in Health Care. Providing specialized knowledge and skills to graduates will give them the qualifications to enter careers in: public or private research and educational institutions, institutes or health-related organizations, disease prevention or control services or public health services at local, regional and national level, as well as health care services, contributing to the improvement of quality of their services. PPS "Novel methods and technological developments in Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus"

The School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, designed and offers the Postgraduate Study Program titled: “Novel methods and technological developments in Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus” since 2019. The subject of the Program is the training of all Health Scientists in the treatment of diabetes mellitus and its complications based on all the latest data in all areas. Special emphasis is given to modern pharmacotherapy and modern technology. The purpose of the Program is to cultivate and promote knowledge, application and research in the scientific field of Diabetes Mellitus and to provide postgraduate students with specialized knowledge in order to obtain the necessary supplies for professional and / or for their academic career. In the Postgraduate Study Program, distinguished scientists from abroad and from Greece participate and develop the topics. PPS "Salivary Gland Disorders"

The Department of Medicine at the School of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki operates the Postgraduate Program (Master's) entitled "Salivary Gland Disorders" (Publication Code 25982/24.5.2021). The purpose of the Master's program is to educate postgraduate students in the management of salivary gland disorders. Salivary glands and their disorders constitute a significant part of the daily clinical practice of many specialties, including Otorhinolaryngology, Maxillofacial Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatrics, General Pathology, Oncology, as well as imaging specialties such as Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. The diversity of specialties involved in the treatment of these disorders demonstrates the breadth and complexity in the modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to salivary gland disorders. The cognitive scope of the Master's program includes surgical anatomy of salivary glands as essential knowledge for physicians who may need to intervene surgically in this area, their physiology-pathophysiology, pathology in both children and adults, diagnostic approach, and therapeutic possibilities (surgical, minimally invasive, and pharmacological) available to date. Specifically, postgraduate students will be trained in minimally invasive methods such as sialendoscopy and local injections within the salivary glands, as well as pharmacological options for treating inflammatory conditions. The start of the courses is scheduled every October, and the language of instruction for both courses and the writing of the dissertation will be Greek. The duration of the program is three (3) academic semesters, leading to the award of a Postgraduate Degree (M.Sc.) upon successful completion of the dissertation in the field of "Salivary Gland Disorders." The Master's program is credited with a total of 90 ECTS, according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, and provides a unified curriculum. As part of the education of postgraduate students, two practical exercises will take place on cadaveric specimens. The first focuses on surgical techniques on major salivary glands, and the second on sialendoscopy.

PPS "Premalignant diseases in Gynecology"

The postgraduate program “Premalignant diseases in Gynecology”, is established for the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in the academic year 2022-2023. The program was scheduled for the new scientists and is focalized to: the pathophysiology, the risk factors, the clinical signs and symptoms, the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of premalignant disorders in Gynecology, as well as to the early detection of premalignant diseases of the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterine body and adnexa. The duration of the program is 3 semesters (90 ECTS). After the preparation and the successful completion of the thesis at the 3rd semester, the candidates will receive the diploma of MSc in Premalignant diseases in Gynecology.

PPS "Primary Health Care"

Το ΠΜΣ του Τμήματος Ιατρικής «Πρωτοβάθμια Φροντίδα Υγείας» («Primary Health Care») έχει σκοπό την παροχή εξειδικευμένων γνώσεων και τη διεύρυνση της ερευνητικής δραστηριότητας στα αντικείμενα της Πρωτοβάθμιας Φροντίδας Υγείας. Το αντικείμενο του είναι η διεπιστημονική και ολιστική προσέγγιση της υγείας σε επίπεδο κοινότητας, με επίκεντρο την προάσπιση της υγείας και την πρόληψη της νόσου Διάρκεια: 4 ακαδημαϊκά εξάμηνα (120 ECTS) Το ΠΜΣ είναι χωρίς δίδακτρα.

PPS "Health Statistics and Data Analytics"

The Department of Medicine announces the start of the new MSc program in Health Statistics & Data Analytics for scientists. PPS "Applied Microbiology"

The Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the AUTH organizes and offers a Master's Program (MSC) entitled: " Applied Microbiology". The Program is an innovative interdisciplinary postgraduate program, which provides high scientific level theoretical and practical training in the field of the newest techniques applied in Medical Microbiology. It studies the application of modern biomedical technology in the laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of mainly infectious diseases. In particular, the purpose of the MSC. is to provide knowledge and skills to doctors who specialize or have specialized in Medical Biopathology, graduates of Medicine or other Departments of the Schools of Health Sciences and scientists of the wider Biomedical field, in the methodologies applied to the diagnosis and monitoring of mainly infectious diseases.

PPS "Surgical Infections-Diagnosis-Treatment-Prevention"

The MSc entitled "Surgical Infections-Diagnosis-Treatment-Prevention" has as subject the education of postgraduate students in the current developments regarding surgical infections, their diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The purpose of the proposed PPS is to train all those health professionals who are involved in monitoring infections of the surgical patient. Also, it will be emphasized the role of the nursing and paramedical staff in the monitoring of surgical infections and also will give guide to scientific research and writing.

PPS "Endocrine Surgery"

The MSc entitled "Endocrine Surgery" aims is for the students to acquire theoretical knowledge of the mechanisms of pathophysiology that lead to the development of endocrine diseases, early diagnosis and investigation and their intraoperative care and finally therapeutic techniques. Endocrine surgery includes the following individual areas: 1. Surgical diseases of the thyroid gland 2. Surgical diseases of the parathyroid glands 3. Surgical adrenal diseases 4. Surgical diseases of neuroendocrine tumors of the digestive tracts Also, it will be emphasized the role of the nursing and paramedical staff and also will give guide to scientific research and writing.

PPS "Surgery of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands"

The Postgraduate Program of Studies (PPS or equivalently: MSc) titled “Surgery of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Glands" is organized by the Department of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and aims in educating students in the diseases of both thyroid and parathyroid glands. The students will acquire both theoretical and technical knowledge (through surgeries) as well as skills in management of difficult cases. This MSc lasts three semesters (90 ECTS in total) and the students are required to attend relevant surgeries (at the end of the second semester) and complete a master’s thesis (third semester).

PPS "Surgical Oncology of Skin, Soft Tissues, Vascular Anomalies"

The Postgraduate Program “Surgical Oncology of the Skin, Soft Tissues and Vascular Anomalies” was created in order to give a propulsion to the advancement of the scientific knowledge in a field where nothing similar existed. The Program aims at health professionals who wish to acquire a higher level of scientific training and obtain an up-to-date postgraduate degree. This title, in the context of a competitive reality, is compared on equal terms with domestic and foreign counterparts.

PPS "Surgical Oncology of the Gastrointestinal Track"

Το ΠΜΣ με τίτλο «Χειρουργική Ογκολογία Πεπτικού» έχει ως γνωστικό αντικείμενο την εκπαίδευση των μεταπτυχιακών φοιτητών στις σύγχρονες εξελίξεις της χειρουργικής αντιμετώπισης των κακοήθων παθήσεων – πρωτοπαθών και μεταστατικών- των οργάνων του γαστρεντερικού συστήματος. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, η αύξηση της συχνότητας των νεοδιαγνωσθέντων κακοήθων παθήσεων του πεπτικού, και ιδιαίτερα στις νεαρότερες ηλικίες, καθιστά επιτακτική ανάγκη την εξειδίκευση στη χειρουργική αντιμετώπιση αυτών. Είναι πλέον αποδεδειγμένο ότι η μόνη και οριστική θεραπεία των παθήσεων αυτών είναι η χειρουργική αντιμετώπιση, η οποία σε πολλές περιπτώσεις συνδυάζεται και με θεραπευτικά πρωτόκολλα χημειο- ή/και ακτινοθεραπείας.

PPS "Ocular Surgery"

The Master's Program MSc "Ocular Surgery" includes the design and development of an integrated program aimed at postgraduate education and the development of research in Ophthalmic Surgery. The purpose of the MSc is the training of scientists from different scientific fields on the subject of Ocular Surgery with the aim of contributing to the quality upgrade of the health services provided. It aims to provide specialized knowledge on the latest developments in ocular surgery, pre-operative and peri-operative nursing and post-operative course and care as well as the development of appropriate skills for experimental research and quality assessment of clinical practice. The subject matter of the MSc is interdisciplinary, post-graduate education and the development of research on the subject of Ocular Surgery
