GeorgiosPapazisis is Assistant Professor of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology, School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is a practicing psychiatrist specialized in psychopharmacology and Cognitive- Analytic Psychotherapy.
Pharmacovigilance, especially psychotropic drug safety and patients safety, adverse drug reactions, medication errors and rational prescribing are his fields of interest. He completed the pharmacovigilance training course at Uppsala Monitoring Centre, the WHO collaborating centre for international drug monitoring.Dr. Papazisis is an ad-hoc reviewer of several international journals and has published 37 Pub-Med papers, 69 indexed abstracts and 2 book chapters (In Vivo Neuropharmacology and Neurophysiology, Springer 2017; Neuropathology of Drug Addictions and Substance Misuse, Elsevier 2016). His work has over 930 citations with an h-index of 20.
He currently serves as an External Expert for the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and is also National Representative Observer of the EMA Central Nervous System Working Party. Additionally, he serves as an external expert for the Pharmacovigilance Department of the Greek National Organization for Medicines (EOF), being responsible for the clinical assessment in the signal management process. He is also member of EOF’s Second Degree Scientific Advisory Board and of the National Committee for Illicit Drugs. Dr. Papazisis is the Treasurer of the Greek Society of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology. He is also member of the ‘Evidence Based Psychiatry’ section of the World Psychiatric Association and member of the ‘Experimental Medicine’ Network of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology. In June 2018 he became member of the first Greek HTA committee.
