Short CV: 

Anthony H. Aletras was born in Thessaloniki Greece. He studied Electrical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received his Masters and his Doctorate Degrees in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University through a Fellowship by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Then, he was awarded an Intramural Research Training Award by the Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and pursued post-doctoral studies in the Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. He subsequently held Staff Fellow and Staff Scientist appointments at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at NIH. Upon returning to Greece in 2010 he was appointed Chairman and Professor of Biomedicine and Imaging Technologies at the Department of Computer Science and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Thessaly, Greece. In December 2014 he was appointed Professor of Biomedicine and Imaging Technologies at the Laboratory of Computing, Medical Informatics and Biomedical Imaging Technologies of the Department of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is also a Researcher at the Department of Clinical Physiology at Lund University, Sweden. His research interests include cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging research and applications of new methodologies in diagnostic imaging. He is one of the two inventors of DENSE strain imaging and a co-inventor for CEST saturation transfer contrast agents. Area at risk determination based on intramyocardial edema is his most cited work.
